While on stage at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney last Tuesday, Elton John revealed that he was donating $1,000,000. He visited Sydney after leaving LA, where he participated in the Global Globes awards.
“An amazing gesture from an amazing performer,” posted an Instagram user after sharing this emotional video.
“I love this magnificent country. The situation happening right now breaks my heart, so we have to come together and fight. We all need to be in awe of the work the firefighters are doing.”, said Elton John in his speech.

As the band started to play “Candle In The Wind,” the singer added: “So tonight, I will be pledging $1,000,000”.
With his noble deed, he joined the long list of celebrated stars who have given vast sums of money to the firefighters struggling against the blazes and to those affected by the wildfires.
Chris Hemsworth revealed that he would be donating $1 million to support those who have suffered, to the brave firefighters and the communities who desperately need help and support.
“Our country is so beautiful, and it’s hurting what is happening right now. So please, please donate as much as you can, even one dollar would help. Let’s give the next generation the childhood I was lucky to have.”, posted Margot Robbie.
The 51-year-old singer, Kylie Minogue, also revealed that she would be pledging $5 million to support firefighting efforts tackling the resilient blazes.
“Our support and prayers go to everyone affected by the devastating wildfires all over the country. We donate $5 million to the Rural Fire Services who are doing their best to stop the fire.”, wrote the actress Nicole Kidman.
Last week, the singer Pink pledged $5 million directly to the local fire services as well.
“I am devastated and so sad because of what is happening now in Australia. My heart goes to our family and friends in Oz.”, wrote Pink.
