Detox Your Liver

Constant feeling of tiredness, making poor judgments, having trouble concentrating are some of the more obvious symptoms of a fatty liver disease. It is a silent disease that can lead to a more severe damage. Detox your liver and regain control over your body with this simple remedies.

Around 80 million Americans suffer from a fatty liver disease. It’s a silent and hidden disease that most people are not even aware. It may come as a surprise, but alcohol intake does not predominantly cause fatty liver. The leading cause is refined carbohydrates, sugar and starch. Our daily food intake is plagued with refined products that damage not only the liver but also the rest of our body parts.

Roots Are Important: Liver Cleanse Tea

Boil ten cups of water and add two tablespoons of dandelion root, burdock root, and yellow dock root. Simmer for ten minutes and then add two tablespoons of nettle leaves. Simmer for ten more minutes. Add two tablespoons of each clover, alfalfa and peppermint leaves. Simmer for another ten minutes. Leave it to cool. Drink five to six cups a day.

Chamomile – Dandelion Liver – Gallbladder Stimulator

Brew separately, a tea from chamomile flowers and tea from dandelion leaves (fresh if possible). Mix one part of chamomile with two parts of dandelion tea, and add one and a half tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Take one cup, three times a day. This tea is also good for sluggish kidney function.

Lime Liver Cleanse

This one is easy and tasty liver detox drink. Combine the juice of two to three freshly squeezed limes with one cup of water and add honey to taste. Drink as desired. It’s also good to start your day with a freshly squeezed half lime or lemon in a glass of lukewarm water.

The Superhero Liver Cleanse

This one is a real superhero for liver detox – gentle but very effective. Take one clove of garlic, a piece of ginger root (about an inch), two tablespoons of parsley leaves, and put them in a blender. Add one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, about eight ounces of water, and end eight ounces of organic apple or orange juice. Divide into thirds and drink one portion before each of your three daily meals. Follow this rule for two or three weeks.

Beet Juice

One cup a day of freshly expressed beet juice is an excellent tonic for a liver detox.  You can also try a variation, which I prefer, that includes a mixture of three ounces each of beet and carrot juice, combined with two ounces of celery juice. (I’m using the whole celery plant, root included)

Health Benefits of Rosemary Essential Oil

Rosemary Liver Stimulator

Besides the benefits for your brain, rosemary is good for your liver too. It’s nothing fancy, just plain rosemary tea. Drink it through the day to stimulate the lazy liver and as a tonic during the fall and spring months.

Everyday Water

Not drinking enough water makes your bile too concentrated in the gallbladder which increases the risk of gallstones. Water also promotes the flow of nutrients and aids the elimination of waste products from the liver. If plain water sounds too easy, try our infused water recipes for body detox.

Consider Also

  • Swedish bitters tonic – Herbal bitter medicines are highly recommended for better digestion. They stimulate the digestive process, liver and bile production.
  • Brussels sprouts – the whole plant family of cabbages and broccoli have a sulfur-containing natural chemical called glucosinolate. Glucosinolates are protecting the liver from damage and also improve the ability to eliminate toxins from the body.
  • Zinc – The liver uses zinc in the process of breaking down the alcohol into less toxic substances. So it is quite clear, if you like alcoholic beverages, then it is a good idea to take zinc as a food supplement.
  • Methionine – As a food supplement, this amino acid is important in many detox processes, and it protects the liver from damage.
