nutrient deficiency

A lot of serious health problems can be caused by nutrient deficiencies. In certain cases, they can also end up deadly. Every function in our body is imbalanced, and the whole structure is damaged when the body is lacking nutrient. In the last 12 years, over 8 million children died as a result of vitamin A deficiency. Vitamin D deficiency killed more than a billion people, and because of that, it is even considered to be an epidemic problem.

You can notice a lot of skin problems when there is an imbalance in the body and in today’s article you are going to read about the five most common signs which you can see on your face that can be indicators that there are mineral or vitamin deficiencies:

1.      Dry hair

Do you have brittle and dry hair and that happened suddenly? Do you have too much dandruff on your scalp? Then, that can be an indicator for a vitamin B7 or Biotin deficiency, and that usually happens because of using antibiotics. If you want to solve that problem, you have to increase the intake of legumes, as well as mushrooms, walnuts, avocados, sunflower seeds and green peas.

2.      Extremely pale skin

Extremely pale skin, combined with fatigue and some other skin conditions may be a sign of vitamin B12 deficiency. In order to solve this problem you have you increase the intake of animal foods, such as raw rennet-free cheese, pastured eggs, and cruelty-free goat’s cheese, as they have high vitamin B12 or you can also take B12 supplements.

3.      Bleeding gums

Vitamin C deficiency is causing bleeding gums. It is combined with nosebleeds, as well as swollen joints. Most mammals synthesize their own vitamin C, but people, monkeys, and guinea pigs must rely upon dietary sources. The best sources of this vitamin are: strawberries, kiwi fruit, broccoli, rose hips, guava, lemons, red peppers and more.

4.      Puffy eyes

Often, puffy eyes are as a result of insufficient sleep. However, they can also be an indicator for reduced iodine levels. If you deal with this, you have to limit the intake of salt and increase the intake of kefir, wakame, kelp, dulse, navy, lima and pastured eggs.

5.      Pale Lips

Deficiency of iron is often one of the reasons for pale lips. In the USA it is the most common nutritional deficiency.  Lacking iron in the body is going to result in fatigue and anemia. You have to increase the intake of dark chocolate (cacao), raisins, spirulina, spinach, dark green leafy veggies and more.
